Joining The Club

Joining Up

All registration is handled through the RFU's GMS system. Go to Join Us page and select your age group - you'll be taken straight to the right place to complete your membership.

How much does membership cost?

Membership fees vary by age group (between seniors and all those 18 years old and younger). Full details are available on the RFU's GMS system when you register. Your first session is always free.

Do I need experience to join?

Not at all. We welcome complete beginners at every age group. Visit our New to Rugby page for everything you need to know before your first session.

Can I try before I commit?

Yes - your first session is completely free with no obligation. Just turn up to any training session and introduce yourself to the coaches.

What age groups do you have?

We have teams from Under 7 Juniors (School Year 2) all the way through to senior men's, senior women's and social rugby. Visit our Teams page for the full breakdown.

What is included in a senior (self-paying) player membership?

Coaching, Matches. Onsite Gym, Food after games, Training Kit, Parking Permit, Insurance, Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Team, Discount at the Bar, Access to England Rugby International Home Tickets and other member-exclusive discounts.

What is included in a non-player membership?

Parking Permit, Discount at the Bar, Access to England Rugby International Home Tickets and other member-exclusive discounts.

Training

When and where is training?

Seniors train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Juniors have varying training evenings which will be communicated by the age group's team manager. Full address is on our Contact page.

What do I need to bring to training?

Comfortable sports kit and trainers are fine for a first session. Once you join you'll need rugby boots and a gum shield. We'll point you in the right direction.

What if I can't make a session?

No problem — just let your coach know. There's no obligation to attend every session especially when you're starting out.

Is training for complete beginners?

Absolutely. All our coaches are RFU qualified and experienced in working with players of all abilities. You'll never be thrown in at the deep end.

Junior Rugby

Are all coaches and volunteers DBS checked?

Yes, all TARFC coaches and volunteers who work with children hold a valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. This is a mandatory requirement for anyone working with children at the club and is reviewed and renewed regularly.

What age can my child start playing?

We welcome children from age 6, who are in school year 2 and above, in our Junior Rugby section. Visit our Junior Rugby (U7-U10) page for full details on each age group.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable sports kit and trainers are fine to start. Once they join they'll need rugby boots and a gum shield. We can advise on what to get.

Match Days

Where can I find fixtures and results?

All fixtures and results are on our Fixtures & Results page. Each team links directly to the RFU system for the most up to date information.

Where do I park on match days?

Parking is available at the ground. You will need to enter your car registration at the clubhouse immediately upon arrival. Visit our Venue Hire page for the ground map showing exactly where to park.

Is there a bar at the ground?

Yes — the clubhouse bar is open on match days. Visiting teams and supporters are always welcome.

Can I bring children to watch matches?

Absolutely, match days at TARFC are family friendly. Come down and enjoy the atmosphere. Please note that we ask you to be observant of your children as their safety is paramount to us at TARFC.

Can I bring my dog to training or matches?

Well behaved dogs are welcome at the Recreation Ground on a lead. Please keep dogs on the hard standing areas only and not on the grass pitches.

Can I hire the clubhouse for an event?

Yes — the TARFC clubhouse and grounds are available for corporate events, private functions and community hire. Visit our Venue Hire page to find out more and submit an enquiry.
